ARTIST STATEMENT
I portray women engaged in observation and introspection - figures who are clothed and unclothed, alone and together, seen and unseen, hidden and revealed. I explore how the dynamics of visibility and concealment influence personal identity and the capacity for authentic connection. By accessing personal narratives, my work seeks to communicate a poetic recognition of self and others.
My paintings emerge from my unconscious. Working with acrylic on canvas, I make intuitive choices that emphasize a feeling of quiet intensity and strength. The resulting visual language transcends direct representation, instead inhabiting an emotional and psychological space laced with mystery.
I resonate with contemporary artists such as Katherine Bradford and Salman Toor, who both create unconventional, dreamlike worlds of the subconscious within their figurative work.
